The Latino Educational Fund (LEF) continues to partner with California State University, Northridge (CSUN) to provide CSUN students with a scholarship. The 2016 LEF scholarship winner was Carol Figueroa. Ms. Figueroa is double majoring in Sociology and Religious Studies. She is actively involved in her community through her sorority, Sigma Alpha Zeta. Her academic accomplishments include, but are not limited to, being honored with the Sigma Alpha Zeta 2015-16 Academic Award and being listed on the Dean's Honor Roll. For the 2016-17 year, she will hold the Academic Chair position within her sorority and Scholarship Director for United Sorority Fraternity Council.

Ms. Figueroa has previously worked at Los Angeles Valley College as a student assistant for the Service Learning Program. She aspires to be a high school counselor and an instructor. She hopes to inspire high school students from low economic backgrounds to pursue higher education in the same manner that she was once inspired by her Downtown Magnet High School counselor.

LEF congratulates Ms. Figueroa upon receiving the LEF's 2016 Scholarship and we encourage her continued academic growth.
